Method

Creamed Chipped Beef

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Begin by rinsing the chipped beef under cold water to remove excess salt. Pat dry with paper towels and cut into strips.

  2. 2

    Make the Roux

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes until it forms a roux and turns a light golden color.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly. Continue to whisk until the mixture thickens and is smooth, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Season the Sauce

Stir in the black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Add the chipped beef and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Home Fries

  1. 5

    Prep the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into small cubes.

  2. 6

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Add the cubed potatoes to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy, about 15-20 minutes.

Toast

  1. 8

    Toast the Bread

While the home fries are cooking, toast the bread slices in a toaster or under a broiler until golden brown.
