Method
Preparing the Steak
- 1
Tenderizing the Steak
Using a meat mallet, pound the beef round steak to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Breading the Steak
Set up a breading station: in one shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour; in a second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until combined. Dredge each steak in flour, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat again with flour. Ensure the steak is fully covered.
Frying the Steak
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 4
Fry the Steak
Carefully place the breaded steaks into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the steaks and set them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Making the Gravy
- 5
- 6
Add Milk
Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens (about 3-5 minutes). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Serve the fried steak hot, topped with the homemade gravy. Enjoy with your choice of sides.
