Ingredients for Regular Onion Rings

Method

Instructions for Regular Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Slowly add in the cold sparkling water while whisking until you have a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dip and Fry

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered rings in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Use a slotted spoon to remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
