Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a round shape on a floured surface.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread a layer of tomato sauce on each base, followed by shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, bell pepper, onion, and olives. Sprinkle dried oregano on top.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh basil on top. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
