Method
Nacho Queso Preparation
- 1
Melt the Cheeses
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and cream cheese. Stir constantly until melted and smooth.
- 2
Add Milk and Seasonings
Gradually stir in the milk, and continue to cook over low heat. Add the diced green chilies, jalapeño peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is combined and heated through.
- 3
Adjust Consistency
If the queso is too thick, add more milk a little at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.
- 4
Keep Warm
Reduce the heat to the lowest setting to keep the queso warm while you prepare the toppings.
Toppings Preparation
- 5
Prepare Lettuce
Wash and shred the lettuce, then set it aside in a bowl.
- 6
Make Pico de Gallo
If you don't have pre-made pico de gallo, prepare it by chopping fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and adding lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
- 7
Serve Sour Cream
Spoon the sour cream into a serving bowl for easy access.
