Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add 2 cups of pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta and reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water. Set aside.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic (3 cloves) and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes

Add 1 cup of halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.

  3. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add salt (1 tsp), black pepper (0.5 tsp), and red pepper flakes (0.25 tsp) to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the tomato and garlic mixture. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.

  2. 7

    Add Fresh Basil and Cheese

Tear fresh basil (1 cup) and add it to the pasta along with 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Toss well to combine and allow the cheese to melt slightly.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the pasta warm, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
