Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Ice Cream Base

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved. This will create a smooth and creamy base for your ice cream.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Chilling the mixture helps improve the texture of the ice cream.

Churning and Freezing

  1. 3

    Churn the Ice Cream

Once the mixture is thoroughly chilled, pour it into an ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to churn the mixture until it thickens and reaches a soft-serve consistency, usually about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Mix-ins

If desired, add any mix-ins such as chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or fresh fruits during the last 5 minutes of churning. This will evenly distribute the mix-ins throughout the ice cream.

  3. 5

    Transfer to a Container

Scoop the churned ice cream into an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula and seal with a lid.

  4. 6

    Freeze Until Firm

Place the container in the freezer for at least 4 hours or until the ice cream is firm enough to scoop. For best results, allow it to freeze overnight.
