Cheese Curds
Marinara Sauce
Method
Cheese Curds Preparation
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
- 2
- 3
Coat Cheese Curds
Dip each cheddar cheese curd first in the dry mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each curd is fully covered.
- 4
Heat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry Cheese Curds
Carefully place the coated cheese curds in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Drain
Once fried, use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese curds from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 7
Cook Garlic
In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and minced garlic cloves, cooking until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 8
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- 9
Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 10
Serve
Once the sauce is ready, serve it warm alongside the fried cheddar cheese curds.
