Preparation of Brisket
- 1
Season the Brisket
Rub the brisket with olive oil. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and brown sugar. Evenly coat the brisket with this spice mixture on all sides.
- 2
Sear the Brisket
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- 3
Prepare the Slow Cooker
In the slow cooker, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Place the seared brisket on top of the vegetables.
- 4
Add Broth
Pour the beef broth over the brisket in the slow cooker, ensuring the brisket is mostly submerged.
Cooking the Brisket
- 5
Slow Cook the Brisket
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- 6

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Serve the Brisket
- 7
Slice and Serve
Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with optional sides such as coleslaw, cornbread, and pickles.
