1. Prepare the Okra
Wash and dry the okra. Trim the ends and slice them into halves or quarters, depending on your preference.
2. Prepare the Breading Mixture
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
3. Coat the Okra
Toss the sliced okra in the breading mixture until evenly coated.
4. Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
5. Fry the Okra
Carefully add the coated okra to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
6. Drain and Serve
