Preparation Method
- 1
Marinate the Fish
Cut the fish fillets into strips and marinate them with lemon juice, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine besan, rice flour, carom seeds, remaining red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Gradually add water to make a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium heat until it's hot but not smoking.
- 4
Coat the Fish
Dip each marinated fish strip into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the coated fish strips in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried fish from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with green chutney or lemon wedges.
