Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Au Jus

In a saucepan, combine beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sauté Onions or Mushrooms

In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions or mushrooms and sauté until they are tender and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the French rolls in half and place the bottom halves on a baking sheet. Layer shaved roast beef on each roll, top with sautéed onions or mushrooms, and add a slice of provolone cheese.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bread is toasted.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the oven, place the top halves of the rolls on, and serve with the warm au jus for dipping.
