Baltimore Style Steamed Shrimp Recipe

Prepare Ingredients
Chop the onion into thin slices and set aside. Rinse the gulf shrimp under cold water and remove any shells if necessary.

Steam the Onions
In a large pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the sliced onions to a steaming basket and place it over the boiling water. Cover and steam for about 5 minutes until the onions are tender.

Add Shrimp and Seasoning
After the onions are tender, add the gulf shrimp to the steaming basket along with the Old Bay seasoning. Cover and steam for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

Serve
Remove the steaming basket from the pot and transfer the shrimp and onions to a serving platter. Serve with cocktail sauce and drawn butter on the side.
