Vegetable Manchurian Ingredients

Method

Vegetable Manchurian Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetable Mixture

Finely chop the mixed vegetables including carrots, beans, cabbage, and capsicum. Ensure the pieces are small enough to form into balls.

  2. 2

    Mix the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped vegetables, cornstarch, all-purpose flour, ginger, garlic, green chilies, spring onions, soy sauce, tomato ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are well incorporated and form a thick batter.

  3. 3

    Shape the Balls

Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Ensure they hold together well.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat. To test if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of batter into the oil; if it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is hot enough.

  5. 5

    Fry the Manchurian Balls

Carefully drop the vegetable balls into the hot oil in batches. Fry until they turn golden brown and are crispy on the outside, approximately 4-5 minutes. Remove them using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

In a separate pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add some chopped spring onions and sauté for a minute. Then add soy sauce and tomato ketchup, stirring to combine. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  7. 7

    Combine and Serve

Add the fried vegetable balls into the sauce and toss to coat them evenly. Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish.
