Cajun Onion Rings Ingredients

Method

Cajun Onion Rings Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Soak the Onions

In a bowl, pour the buttermilk over the onion rings, ensuring they are well coated. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Make the Breading

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, cajun seasoning, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Bread the Onion Rings

Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge them in the flour mixture, coating them well. Shake off any excess flour.

  6. 6

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully add the coated onion rings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
