Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Turkey
Thaw the turkey completely if frozen. Remove the giblets and neck from inside the turkey. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- 2
Season the Turkey
In a small bowl, mix the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin where possible.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep fryer, heat the cooking oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure you have enough oil to fully submerge the turkey.
- 4
Fry the Turkey
Carefully lower the turkey into the hot oil using a frying basket or a sturdy hook. Fry the turkey for approximately 3 to 4 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Rest the Turkey
Once cooked, carefully remove the turkey from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
- 6
Serve
Carve the turkey and serve with your favorite sides.
