Tequeños Ingredients

Method

Tequeños Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a smooth dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until elastic. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cheese

Cut the cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Shape the Tequeños

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. Wrap each strip around a cheese stick, sealing the edges well.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tequeños

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tequeños in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
