Method

Cake Directions

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, Coca-Cola, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5

Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

7

Prepare Fudge Icing

In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of butter, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, and 1/4 cup of milk. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in 3 cups of powdered sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until smooth.

8

Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of fudge icing, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides.

9

Serve

Slice the cake and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
