Prepare the Steak
Tenderize the beef round steak using a meat mallet. Cut into serving-sized pieces.

Bread the Steak
In a bowl, combine buttermilk and eggs. In another bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Dip each steak piece into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.

Fry the Steak
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add breaded steak pieces into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.

Serve the country fried steak hot, smothered in sawmill gravy.
