Sausage and Sauce

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sausages

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage links and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and red bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Make the Sauce

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and red wine, then stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Combine and Cook

Return the browned sausage links to the skillet. Cover and let it simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sausages to cook through.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the sausage links hot, drenched in the hunter sauce. Pair with crusty bread or over pasta if desired.
