Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease a half pan (13 x 18 inches) with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Batter Mixing

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy.

  3. 5

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared half pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

  2. 8

    Bake

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 9

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 10

    Add Toppings

Once the cake is completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar, top with fresh berries, and add whipped cream as desired.

  2. 11

    Slice and Serve

Slice the cake into squares and serve it to your guests.
