Method
Preparing Hashbrowns
- 1
Cook Hashbrowns
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the frozen hashbrowns, spreading them evenly across the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Fry Hashbrowns
Cook for about 5-7 minutes without stirring until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the hashbrowns and cook for another 5-7 minutes on the other side until crispy and golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cooking Sausage Patties

Prepare Sausage
In the same skillet used for hashbrowns, add the pork sausage. Use your hands to form the sausage into patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 4
Cook Sausage Patties
Cook the sausage patties over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and browned. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
Making Country Gravy
- 5
- 6
Add Flour
Once the butter is melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.

Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Increase heat to medium and continue whisking until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- 8
Season Gravy
Stir in the salt and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Assembling Country Skillet
- 9
Combine Ingredients
On a large serving platter or individual plates, layer the crispy hashbrowns, followed by the sausage patties. Pour the country gravy over the top.
