Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chop Vegetables

Dice the onion and green bell pepper into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare Ham

If not already diced, chop the cooked ham into bite-sized pieces.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook Hashbrowns

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the frozen hashbrowns and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they start to turn golden brown and crispy.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Stir in the chopped onion and green bell pepper into the skillet with the hashbrowns. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 5

    Incorporate Ham

Add the diced ham to the skillet and stir well to combine. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the ham to warm through.

  4. 6

    Season the Mixture

Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the mixture to taste, stirring to ensure even seasoning.

  5. 7

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the cheddar jack cheese evenly over the top of the skillet mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce heat to low. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Hot

Once the cheese is melted, remove the lid and serve the Chicago Skillet hot. Enjoy it directly from the skillet or transfer to plates.
