Prime Rib Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Preparing the Prime Rib

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Mix together kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary in a small bowl. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib roast.

  2. 2

    Searing the Meat

In a large oven-safe pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the prime rib on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Roasting

Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until a meat thermometer reads 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  4. 4

    Basting

During the last 30 minutes of cooking, add butter and beef broth to the pan. Baste the prime rib with the melted butter and broth every 15 minutes.

  5. 5

    Resting

Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Serving

Serve the sliced prime rib with your choice of side and a tossed salad.
