Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour. This helps them cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of each ribeye steak with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Press the seasoning into the meat to ensure it adheres well.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it's shimmering but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the ribeye steaks in the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them to develop a good crust.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steaks and cook for another 3-5 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time to your preferred doneness.

  4. 6

    Add Garnish (Optional)

If desired, add butter and fresh rosemary to the pan during the last minute of cooking. Baste the steaks with the melted butter for extra flavor.

Resting

  1. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the pan and place them on a cutting board. Let them rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve it on a plate. Enjoy with your favorite sides!
