Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale in color.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, stirring until well combined.

  5. 5

    Add Flour and Salt

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to release. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
