Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it is ready when you're done mixing the batter.

Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
Mixing the Ingredients

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

If using, fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts into the batter.
Baking

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Cooling and Serving
