Pork Marinade
Sandwich Assembly
Method
Pork Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Pork
In a large bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, making sure to cover it evenly. Place the pork in a large resealable bag or a bowl, add apple cider vinegar and water, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 4-5 hours, or until the pork is very tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
Sandwich Assembly
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 4
Assemble the Sandwich
Toast the burger buns lightly. On the bottom half of each bun, add a generous amount of pulled pork, a drizzle of barbecue sauce, a handful of coleslaw mix, and pickles if desired. Place the top half of the bun on top to complete the sandwich.
- 5
Serve
Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm with extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.
