Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder until well combined.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugars
In another bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Wet Ingredients
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, until fully incorporated.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- 6
Add Mix-ins
Fold in the chocolate chips, nuts, and/or dried fruit if using.
Baking
- 7
Scoop the Dough
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
- 8
Bake Cookies
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will continue to cook on the baking sheet.
- 9
Cool Cookies
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
