Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Remaining Chili Ingredients

Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Macaroni Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook the Macaroni

While the chili is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 5

    Combine Chili and Macaroni

Once the macaroni is cooked and drained, add it to the skillet with the chili. Stir well to combine.

Final Assembly

  1. 6

    Add Cheese and Sour Cream

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the chili mac. Allow it to melt for a few minutes on low heat. Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream on top.

  2. 7

    Serve with Sides

Optional: Serve with cornbread or a side salad for a complete meal.
