Brat Burger Ingredients

Method

Brat Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bratwurst

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. While the grill is heating up, remove the bratwurst from their casings and form them into burger patties. Each patty should weigh around 4 ounces.

  2. 2

    Season the Patties

In a bowl, mix the salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Season both sides of the brat patties with the seasoning mix.

  3. 3

    Grill the Patties

Drizzle the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the brat patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, place the brioche buns cut side down on the grill for about 1-2 minutes, or until they are lightly toasted.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

Remove the brat patties and toasted buns from the grill. Place each brat patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of a brioche bun. Add mustard, ketchup, and pickles as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the brat burgers hot off the grill with your choice of sides.
