Ingredients for Cauli 'Steak' Burger

Method

Directions for Cauli 'Steak' Burger

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cauliflower Steaks

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut the cauliflower head into thick slices to create 'steaks'.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and water to create a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Fry the Cauliflower

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip each cauliflower steak into the batter and then carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cabbage Slaw

In a bowl, mix shredded cabbage, lemon juice, sugar, and salt to taste. Toss well and set aside.

  5. 5

    Make the Garlic Aioli

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On a plate, place a cauliflower steak. Top with arugula, pickled cucumbers, and cabbage slaw. Drizzle with garlic aioli and serve with house fries on the side.
