Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté them until they are soft and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger

In a separate skillet, form the ground beef into a patty, season with salt and pepper. Cook over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Patti Melt

Place the cooked burger on one slice of marbled rye bread. Top with the sautéed onions and a slice of American cheese. Place the second slice of bread on top.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

In the same skillet used for the onions, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.
