Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the New York Strip steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper. If using, crush the garlic cloves and place them on top of the steak along with the rosemary.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet or frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the steak in the hot pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving it, until a nice crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to reach your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
