Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions, shaping them into patties. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burgers

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. 3

    Make the Mushroom Gravy

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are browned and tender, about 5 minutes. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Thicken the Gravy

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry. Stir this mixture into the simmering mushroom gravy and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns lightly. Place the burger patties on the bottom half of each bun, top with the mushroom gravy, and cover with the other half of the bun.
