Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken halves, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and additional salt and pepper to taste.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing it in to ensure a good coating.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, skin-side down. Fry for about 12-15 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious crispy fried chicken!
