Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a large bowl, combine the minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it with foil. Roast for about 4 hours or until the meat is tender and easily pulled apart. Once done, let it rest before shredding.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the Cuban bread in half lengthwise. Spread mustard on the inside of both halves. Layer shredded pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles on the bottom half of the bread. Top with the other half.

  4. 4

    Press and Grill

Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. Brush the outside of the sandwich with olive oil. Place the sandwich in the press or skillet and cook until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese has melted, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the sandwich from the press, cut in half, and serve warm. Enjoy your Lefty's Cubano!
