Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare Espresso Mixture
In a shallow bowl, mix together the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool.
- 2
Make the Zabaione
In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water and whisk continuously until the mixture becomes thick and pale.
- 3
Combine Mascarpone
Remove the zabaione from heat and let it cool slightly. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- 4
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture and layer them in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
- 6
Chill and Serve
Cover the tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, top with chocolate shavings.
