Method
Fried Zucchini Directions
- 1
Prepare the Zucchini
Wash and slice the zucchini into thin shoestring strands, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Dredge in Milk
Soak the zucchini strands in milk for about 10 minutes to soften them.
- 3
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 4
Bread the Zucchini
Remove zucchini from the milk and let excess drip off. Dredge each strand in the seasoned flour mixture until well-coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
- 6
Fry the Zucchini
Carefully add the coated zucchini strands to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove fried zucchini from oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle grated Romano cheese on top while still hot, and serve immediately.
