Mussels Fra Diavlo Ingredients
Method
Mussels Fra Diavlo Directions
- 1
Prepare the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris. Remove the beards if they have them and discard any mussels that are open or damaged.
- 2
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Wine
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and white wine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
- 4
Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any mussels that do not open.
- 5
Finish and Serve
Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve the mussels hot with the sauce, ideally with crusty bread on the side.
