Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Marinate
Place the calamari in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from buttermilk and let the excess drip off. Dredge them in the flour mixture until well coated.

Fry the Calamari
Carefully place the coated calamari in the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

Drain
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
