Onion Rings

Method

Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and has no lumps.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Batter and Fry

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with Nintendie Sauce on the side.
