Preparation
1. Prepare the Breading Stations
Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
2. Coat the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese to ensure it sticks.
3. Freeze the Coated Sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
4. Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the Cheese Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
6. Drain and Serve
Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
