Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined.

Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Drain and Serve
Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
