Cake and Frosting

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the boiling water until smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  6. 6

    Make the Banana Buttercream

In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Add the mashed bananas and mix until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until fluffy and well combined.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of banana buttercream on top, then place the second layer on top.

  8. 8

    Add Caramel and Peanuts

Drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the cake and sprinkle with chopped peanuts.

  9. 9

    Serve

Slice and enjoy your Winding Road chocolate cake with banana buttercream and caramel peanuts!
