Tofu Bao Buns

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickled Slaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrot. In a separate bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and sesame oil until dissolved. Pour the vinegar mixture over the cabbage and carrot, toss well, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Tofu

Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, Sriracha, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Add the tofu and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Coat and Fry the Tofu

Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss to coat evenly. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the tofu until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Bao Buns

Steam the bao buns according to package instructions. Once steamed, fill each bun with crispy tofu and top with pickled slaw. Serve immediately.
