Burger Preparation

1

Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

2

Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

3

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.

4

Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burger

5

Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

6

Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top.

7

Add Condiments

Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the bun, then close the burger.

Serve with Sides

8

Choose Your Side

Select one of the available sides: French fries, coleslaw, or onion rings, and serve alongside the cheeseburger.
