Method
Prepare Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
In a bowl, rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow it to absorb water.
- 2
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and sticky.
Make Coconut Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until the sugar has dissolved completely.
- 4
Heat the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then remove from heat. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the sauce for drizzling on the finished dish.
Prepare Mango
- 5
Slice the Mango
Peel the ripe mango and cut it into thin slices or cubes, discarding the pit.
Assemble the Dish
- 6
Combine Rice and Sauce
In a large bowl, mix the steamed sticky rice with the coconut sauce, stirring gently to combine. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 7
Plate the Dish
Serve the sticky rice on a plate alongside the sliced mango. Drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce.
- 8
Add Garnish
Sprinkle sesame seeds and coconut flakes on top of the sticky rice for added texture and flavor.
