Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic and Beef

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the minced beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Once the beef is browned, add the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and dried basil. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook uncovered for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

  6. 6

    Combine Spaghetti and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
