Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsweetened dark chocolate and unsalted butter together until smooth. Stir occasionally to combine.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour, pinch of salt, and vanilla extract. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full. Place the ramekins on a baking tray.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft and slightly jiggly.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream.
